Trump’s UFO release might include very clear videos and satellite photos of craft that do not look human-made, Insider says, which could strongly suggest we are not alone.
A former senior Pentagon official, Christopher Mellon, says there is a large collection of UFO material with impressive photos and videos, and that releasing these could change the whole public discussion about UFOs.
According to New York Post, it explains that President Trump recently ordered that UFO and alien files should be released soon, and he told Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to lead this process and publish files about aliens, UFOs, and all related information. Government agencies like the Pentagon and Congress have started moving because of this order, but so far they have not clearly said exactly what will be released or when.
Mellon says the most interesting proof is clear satellite images of objects in orbit that are obviously not human-made, and that the US has pictures of vehicles that do not look like anything we have built. He also mentions earlier comments from former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe, who in 2021 said there are images of craft doing things that are very hard to explain.
At the same time, Mellon doubts that the release will include hard proof of contact with alien civilizations, such as confirmed communication or direct evidence of aliens.
He notes that many agencies hold relevant UFO files, including the Department of War, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Nuclear Security Administration.
Mellon says intelligence agencies do not like releasing secret material and that it is “unnatural” for them to do so, so he expects them to move slowly and to hold back the most important material for as long as possible, maybe forever, unless Congress forces them to act.
He argues that Congress must watch the process closely to make sure the release is serious, broad, and not just a small, controlled trickle of information.
